Record release gig

These days I’ve been working on the cover for the new album, the idea would be to use a painting w/ collage I did some time ago for the front cover. Ben G, who plays bass with us, is in charge of the electric part of the album and I’m doing the folk rock part.

The record will be released on… Friday November 5 and to celebrate this, we’ll play a gig at La Spirale http://www.laspirale.ch/, Fribourg. We’d be glad that you’d come. There you’ll find a limited edition digifile double cd, hand-numbered. Otherwise, the albums will be digitally released on Itunes and a free digital booklet will be available to download on my web headquarters http://www.iamcatseye.com/

Leaving New York never easy

I’ve just spent an amazing week in New York! On the music side I realized
an old dream, playing on the monday night open mic at the Sidewalk Cafe, a place on East Village known for its anti-folk scene (Moldy Peaches, Regina Spektor, Beck). I played on the piano, well actually a detuned acoustic piano, I guess it must be… the “anti- touch” of the place.
Also brought back home new gear.

Gig at the Elvis & moi, Fribourg

Last saturday, I opened for my friends from Mrs Burroughs. Thanks to them for inviting me. Here are a couple of pictures.

premiere

On saturday I’ll play live with my new project, it’s going to be the first time I’ll play most of these songs in concert and the first time I’ll play them with a whole live band. So I’m really excited and nervous as well. (Of course) we did a middle-average-maybe-bad rehearsal on tuesday but we still have one tonight. But as one says: bad last rehearsal means good gig. Well maybe it’s psychological: if you play really bad on the last rehearsal, you’re 200% concentrated during the gig because you know you can f*** up the song real bad, so you’ve got this strength to survive… By playing really bad, I mean you know the songs because you played them a million times but can’t help being bad.
Anyway we’ll be 6 on stage, not necessarily everyone at the same time: electric guitar, drums, bass, acoustic guitar, keyboards, discrete laptop, alto saxophone for one song…
I can’t wait to be on saturday, because I haven’t played live for a long time, recording and recording again in my own intimate little world… We still have a general rehearsal tonight, so that’s nice. Maybe that’s going to make me cool down a little bit.
